1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you", "your") and Accounting Tutor AI Inc., Ontario, Canada ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the accountingtutorai.com website, applications, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, starting a free trial, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and Minimum Age
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation.
3. Description of the Service
Accounting Tutor AI is an online study platform that helps accounting students learn International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS). Features include an AI-powered tutor chatbot, a standards library, decision trees, practice multiple-choice questions, financial calculators, and a journal entry generator. The Service is delivered through a web browser and updated from time to time at our discretion.
4. Account Registration and Security
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password and any third-party sign-in credentials (such as your Google account) secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must notify us immediately at support@accountingtutorai.org if you suspect any unauthorised access.
- We may suspend or close accounts that show signs of compromise or abuse.
5. Subscription, Billing and Auto-Renewal
Free trial. New users receive a 7-day free trial with limited access to the Service. No payment is required to start the trial.
Pro subscription. The Pro plan costs USD $9.99 per month, or USD $99 per year (approximately $8.25/month), and is billed in advance through our third-party payment processor. Prices may be displayed in your local currency where supported.
Auto-renewal. Pro subscriptions renew automatically each month using your stored payment method until you cancel. By starting a Pro subscription you authorise these recurring charges.
How to cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Subscription page in your account or via the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice before the change applies to your next renewal.
Taxes. Prices shown may exclude applicable VAT, GST, or sales tax, which will be added where required by law.
6. 14-Day Money-Back Refund Policy
If you are not satisfied with your first Pro subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial Pro payment by emailing support@accountingtutorai.org with your account email. Refunds for renewal payments after the first 14 days, or for subsequent reactivations, are at our discretion. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to appear.
7. Acceptable Use and Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, prompts, or model weights of any part of the Service;
- Use automated tools, bots, crawlers, or scrapers to access, copy, or harvest content;
- Share, sell, sub-license, or otherwise transfer your account credentials;
- Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or its content;
- Use the Service to build, train, or fine-tune a competing AI product;
- Upload unlawful, harmful, defamatory, infringing, or malicious content;
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, rate limits, paywalls, or security controls;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the experience of other users.
8. Intellectual Property
All content provided through the Service — including the software, AI-generated explanations, standards summaries, decision trees, practice questions, calculators, designs, logos, and trademarks — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own non-commercial study purposes. Quotations from IFRS source material remain the property of their respective rights holders and are reproduced for educational purposes.
9. User-Submitted Content
When you submit questions, feedback, scenarios, or other content to the Service ("User Content"), you retain ownership of that content. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, and use that User Content for the purpose of operating, securing, improving, and personalising the Service. You confirm that your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights and does not contain confidential client or employer information that you are not authorised to share.
10. AI and Educational Disclaimer
Accounting Tutor AI is an educational study tool. Although our AI tutor is grounded in official IFRS source material, AI systems can still produce incomplete, outdated, or incorrect responses. The Service is not a substitute for professional accounting, audit, tax, or legal advice. We do not warrant that the content is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. You should always verify accounting treatments with a qualified professional and the official standards before relying on them in practice.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on the following third parties:
- Google Sign-In — used for optional account authentication. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's terms and privacy policy.
- Payment processor (Stripe) — handles all card payments, billing portals, and refunds. We do not store full card details on our servers.
- Cloud infrastructure and analytics providers — used to host the Service and understand aggregate usage. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details.
We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, or terms of these third parties.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, study outcomes, exam results, or business opportunities arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be lawfully excluded.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service in breach of these Terms; (b) your User Content; or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
14. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the Profile page. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without refund (subject to the 14-day refund policy above), if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, the licence granted to you ends, but sections that by their nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, and governing law) will continue.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Accounting Tutor AI is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute in good faith by contacting support@accountingtutorai.org. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws give you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
17. IFRS Foundation Content — End User Terms
The Service contains intellectual property of the IFRS Foundation used under licence. By using the Service every user agrees to the following terms:
- users acknowledge the rights of the IFRS Foundation in its intellectual property ("IP") which forms part of this resource and shall not do or omit to do any act which would or might invalidate or be inconsistent with those rights;
- users shall comply with all applicable laws when using this resource;
- users are permitted to use the IP for personal and non-commercial use only, and shall not, without the prior written agreement of the IFRS Foundation, license, sublicense, sell, supply, rent out, publish, display or otherwise distribute the IP to third parties, nor create any derivative work based on this resource or any part thereof;
- users do not have the right to reproduce, in either hard copy or electronic format, any part of the IP, including the text of any individual IFRS Standard (including IAS Standards) or specific document, or any extract or combination thereof, for any commercial purposes, including any seminar, conference, training or similar commercial event, without the prior written permission of the IFRS Foundation;
- users do not have the right to use any part of the IP with, as part of, or in connection with any training or fine-tuning of artificial intelligence models, tools or other related technologies without the prior written permission of the IFRS Foundation;
- users are obliged to obtain the approval of the IFRS Foundation to produce more copies than those permitted by the provisions of copyright and database right legislation in their territory relating to fair dealing for non-commercial research or private study or personal copying for private use;
- the IFRS Foundation reserves the right to make additional charges for use otherwise than in accordance with these terms;
- users shall not remove or obscure, or attempt to remove or obscure, any copyright notice, disclaimer or other text included in this resource, or any technical measures which protect against misuse of the IFRS Foundation's IP;
- if any user breaches any of these provisions their right to use this resource shall be terminated immediately.
